GONZALO DÍAZ
Artistic Director

     Gonzalo Díaz is a dancer and choreographer from Madrid, a member of the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts since 2014 and President of Emprendo Danza (Association of Dance Companies and Enterprises) since 2018. He has a long artistic training based on Dance. This dancer is interested in widening his artistic horizons through other paths such as Choreographic Creation and Performance, parallel subjects that complement each other. He graduated in Contemporary Dance from the Royal Professional Dance Conservatory in Madrid, and from a very young age has received complementary training in Classical and Contemporary Dance at the Carmen Senra and Esther Cañizares Dance Studios in Madrid. He furthered his studies by completing the Higher Degree in Choreography at the Higher Dance Conservatory in Madrid.

     Throughout her career she has taken numerous courses in Contemporary Dance and has had the opportunity to train with prestigious teachers such as Carmen Werner, Chevi Muraday, Christine Tanguay, Kerry Nicholls and Jasmine Wilson among others. She also trains in Classical Dance with great teachers such as Jeanne Solan, Patsy Kuppe Matt, Carmen Rozestraten and Mathilde Van der Meerendonk.

     As a dancer he has participated in numerous productions with important choreographers such as Pedro Berdäyes, Gloria García, Itzik Galili, José Reches and Sharon Fridman. During the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons, he was a member of IT Dansa (Barcelona) as a regular dancer, under the direction of Catherine Allard and working with prestigious choreographers such as Ohad Naharín, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Gustavo Ramírez, Stijn Celis, Alexander Eckman and Rafael Bonachela.

     In 2007 he founded his own company, caraBdanza, and in 2008 his work as a choreographer and director was recognized by winning 2nd prize in the Burgos-New York International Choreography Competition for the piece Seis al Cubo. The company continues to be active on the national scene with various productions under his direction, among which are Sobre el vacío (2011), accIDent (2012) and Tres caminos (2014).
As a freelance choreographer he begins his career in 2013, collaborating in the Laboradance project, giving a choreographic workshop and a new creation lab material (2013) and La prima vez (2014), for the Ballet Carmen Roche he creates inVita (2013) and for Dantzak Kompainia he creates Babel (2014).

     He has worked as a dance teacher in important schools nationwide, including Area Spai de Dansa y Creaciò (Barcelona); Madrid Dance Center (Madrid) and the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza SCAENA – Carmen Roche (Madrid). In 2014 he founded caraB dance school with Carolina Márquez, focused on the professional training of dancers.

     Jessica begins to study dance at “Latin-American dances school” with only 4 years old. In 2010 she begins to study in Rome with Paola Scoppettuolo, and in the company Aleph, and in 2011 she trains at Professione Mas Dance LAB under the direction of Ludmill Cakall.

     In 2014, during the Alto Jonio Dance Festival in Italy, he studies with the director Antonio Pio Fini, Michael Mao, Sara Caballero, George Postelnicu and Virginie Mécène (Director of the company Martha Graham II – New York). In this festival he wins scholarships for a Summer Intensive at the Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York and a scholarship at the Martha Graham School in New York. In September 2014 he begins his career with caraBdanza.

Eduardo Alves

     He began his dance studies in Brazil (studio dançarte – GO) but it is in Madrid where she graduated from the CONSERVATORIO REAL MARIEMMA, where she received training from teachers such as Julia Esteves, Antonio Chamizo, Ricardo Franco, Juan Polo and others. In his last year of training he combines his career teaching at the Victor Ullate School in Alcobendas, where he teaches for six years.

     As a dancer he works in different companies and projects where he stands out, La Real, Ballet Joven de Alcobendas directed by Victor Ullate, Santamaria Dance Company, Asaltos de la danza en Reina Sofia, Martz Dance Company, Carmelo Segura Company, Proart Company (Mexico), Székesfehérvári Balett (Hungary) and currently belongs to the artistic team of the CaraBdanza company in Madrid.

     As a choreographer he collaborates mounting short pieces for the international company Proart in Mexico, where “Entropia”, “Lamento” and “Loca” choreographed for the International Festival of Spanish Dance and Flamenco of Cuba in the Garcia Lorca Theatre in Havana stand out. She also works in multidisiplinary collaborations as in “In-side” piece created with the plastic artist Lara Padilla, which is selected in several festivals as Beta Publica (Madrid), Baldaranquehablar micro theatre contest (La Rioja), Tercera semana (Castellon) and Festival Internacional de Teatro de Calle (Madrid).

     As a teacher he continues to train at the CSDMA (Conservatorio Superior de Danza “Maria de Avila”) where he receives classes from teachers such as Virgina Valero, Eva Lopez Crivillen, Paula Castro and Virginia Larrasquitu and currently teaches classical dance at the Ecole française de danse where he teaches at different levels.

     She began dancing at the age of 4 in her home town of Ripollet, but it was at the age of 10 that she moved to Madrid to train at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma, where she completed her official studies in the speciality of Classical Dance. He furthered his training by taking advanced courses in Dresden (Germany, 2013) and Valencia (2014 and 2015)

     During the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons, she is part of the choreographic workshop of the conservatory, LARREAL, in which she performs choreographies of Classical Repertoire and Contemporary Dance creations by Goyo Montero and Jean-Philippe Dury, playing solo and group roles. In September 2015 she joins caraBdanza.

Elena Frongia

     Elena began dancing in her hometown at the age of 4, and at the age of 14, she moved to Florence to study at the Accademia Internazionale Coreutica, directed by Elisabetta Hertel, where she trained in classical and contemporary dance. He furthered his training in major European schools such as the New Zeland School of Dance, P.A.R.T.S and The Place.

     In 2014 he participates in the show “Interchanged”, by choreographer Craig Davidson.

     In September 2015 he moves to Madrid and begins to dance as an apprentice with caraBdanza.

Teresa Poveda

     She started dancing in her hometown, Petrer (Alicante), at the age of 4. She continues her studies at the Fortea Professional Dance Conservatory in Madrid where she takes the official studies in the speciality of Classical Dance.

     During and after the conservatory, she extended her training in courses and campus of Classical and Contemporary Dance in Lyon (International Ballet Course, CNSMD Lyon, 2013), in Valencia (International Dance Campus ADAM 2012, 2013 and 2014) and various workshops of research and choreographic creation (Centro Danza Canal, Madrid).

     In 2016 she will take the professional training course in Contemporary Dance in caraBdanza school.

     In 2017 she joins the caraBdanza company as apprentice and in 2018 as a dancer.
