Gonzalo Díaz is a dancer and choreographer from Madrid, member of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain from 2014. He has long artistic training in Dance and he is interested in expanding his artistic horizons through other ways such as Choreography and Performance, that complement each other. He holds a degree in Contemporary Dance from Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Madrid, and from a young age he has received complementary training on Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance at Estudios de Danza Carmen Senra and Esther Cañizares in Madrid. He expands his studies by doing the Grado Superior de Coreografía at Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Madrid.
Throughout his career he has taken numerous courses on Contemporary Dance and he has had the opportunity to train with renowned teachers such as Carmen Werner, Chevi Muraday, Christine Tanguay, Kerry Nicholls and Jasmine Wilson among others. He has also trained in Classical Ballet with great master teachers among them, Jeanne Solan, Patsy Kuppe Matt, Carmen Rozestraten and Mathilde Van der Meerendonk.
As a dancer participates in many productions with choreographers of great weight in the dance industry as Pedro Berdäyes, Gloria García, Itzik Galili, José Reches and Sharon Fridman.
During 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons he was a principal dancer at IT Dansa (Barcelona), under the direction of Catherine Allard and had the chance to work with prestigious choreographers as Ohad Naharín, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Gustavo Ramírez, Stijn Celis, Alexander Eckman and Rafael Bonachela.
In 2007 he founded his own company, caraBdanza, and in 2008 his work as choreographer and director is recognized by obtaining the 2º prize at Certamen Internacional de Coreografía Burgos-New York, with his piece Seis al Cubo.The company is still active in the national scene with various productions under his leadership among them are Sobre el vacío (2011), accIDent (2012) y Tres caminos (2014).
He begins a stage as a freelance choreographer in 2013, collaborating with the project Laboradance, imparting a choreographic workshop and a new creation lab material (2013) and La prima vez (2014), and for Ballet Carmen Roche he creates inVita (2013) and for Dantzak Kompainia Babel (2014).
He develops his career as a dance teacher at important national schools among them Area Spai de Dansa y Creaciò (Barcelona); Madrid Dance Center (Madrid) and Conservatorio Profesional de Danza SCAENA – Carmen Roche (Madrid). In 2014 he founded , along with Carolina Márquez, the caraB School of Perfoming Arts.
